Styling up a gallery wall

Styling up a gallery wall

Have you ever wanted to make a gallery wall for your home or work space but have no idea where to start?

It’s actually pretty easy once you get going. The main thing is to collect art you love, not just styles that are on trend but artwork that brings back good memories of a place or time or a piece you really love and know it will bring you joy for a long time to come. Pick your one hero artwork and start your collection from there.

The best way to put things together is to mix up the sizes for interest and try to get a bit of a theme happening but they don’t all have to be the same colour or subject. Keeping the tones similar or having a touch of a particular colour in each piece can tie it all together and you can work this back to any soft furnishings in the room.

Framing everything in the same frame works well if you are going for a contemporary style or if you prefer an eclectic look try using different frames to add a little more character.

Have fun with it, lay your collection out on the floor and move them around until it is pleasing to your eye. Everyone has different taste so make it work for you and create a space you love and feel comfortable in. I also like to add other little pieces I have collected on my travels, like handmade crosses, Mexican folk art or handmade ceramic pieces. Even pieces of handmade textiles can be framed and look great mixed in amongst your artwork collection and also make a great talking point.

Just remember everyone has their own unique style and a gallery wall is a good place to show off what you love.

Tag me in your Gallery walls, I would love to see what you come up with.
